One is Logan, a Sanguinar demon-fighter who needs Hope's essence to survive. As a vampire he's well-equipped to find her a like-blooded mate whose progeny could sustain his race for generations. The other is Krag, a Synestryn lord whose desire is to enslave Hope, and drain her of the lifeforce. With it he could control humanity forever.

Author News: Jennifer Turner

Most of you know that I'm a HUGE Jennifer Turner fan.
So I was so happy when I saw her announcement on her blog.

I decided to a little coping and pasting so I could share the great news...

The big announcement!

The bad news…

The first novella in Vouclade & Kasey’s 3 part story, Ascension: The Revelation, will not be releasing on August 31st as originally planned.

The good news…

Vouclade & Kasey’s story – still named, Ascension: The Revelation, will be releasing as a full-length novel in January 2012. Their story will also serve as the first book in the new Ascension Series. ;)

Why change the release date? Because after I made the announcement a few weeks ago that the novellas would only release as e-books – I got a wave of e-mails from print readers who were very, VERY unhappy that they’d have to wait until August of 2012 to get the story in print. And because I loathe the prospect of alienating any reader based on their favored reading format – I decided to split the difference and release the story as a full-length book in January 2012. I figure this should work for everyone, since now no one has to wait until next August for the last novella to release in order to read the whole story.

MY REVIEW
Why start a new series? Because I’ve had so many Paladin based story ideas lately that don’t fit into the Eternal Series…that I felt the Paladin’s needed their own place. As most of you know, the Eternal Series focuses primarily on the vampires, and more specifically the diabolical chess match between Stefan & Orion. Unfortunately, the chess board storyline will only allow for so much sway…and sometimes I just can’t mold a new story idea involving other non-vampire supernaturals to suit it. So the Paladins now have their very own place…and I’m very, very excited about it. :)

Okay, now for a little more good news…

Along with the Ascension series, I wanted to tell you about the Fallen Series and the Primal Series, both of which will have debut novels in 2012. The Primal Series will focus on the weres and other shapeshifters of the Darkness Within world, whereas the Fallen Series will deal with Harbingers, ghosts, and “others” of the world.
So what does all of this mean for you? 5 books a year instead of 2! :)

MY REVIEW
The Eternal Series will have 2 releases every year, one on May 1st and one on October 31st. The Ascension, Fallen, and Primal series will all have 1 release a year, with dates to be determined. And, although each of the series are set in the Darkness Within world, and will still be called Darkness Within Novels, each line will stand completely alone. That way, if you love the vamps but aren’t nearly as interested in the Paladins – you can read whichever line(s) you like and not miss anything. :)
Oh, and Oktober’s story, Eternal Embrace (book #3), will still be releasing on October 31, 2011 as planned. With Eternal Desires (book #4) to follow on May 1, 2012, and Odin’s story, Eternal Embers (book #5), to follow on October 31, 2012. :)
There will be more details to follow, especially as book covers and titles are finalized. Again, I’m sorry for any disappointment over the moving of Vouclade’s story…but splitting the difference was the best option I had in an attempt to give everyone a little of what they wanted – including me. :)

If you have comments or questions, feel free to ask. I’ll do my best to answer them! :)
Have a good one!

I can't wait to get more books in this series and
the new series sound AWESOME!!

But Evie’s about to realize that she may very well be at the center of a dark faerie prophecy promising destruction to all paranormal creatures.
So much for normal.

  • And I managed to get books 1 & 3 of the Generation Dead series on clearance so I need the 2nd book then I can start the series.

Cover ImageKiss of Life

The phenomenon that’s been sweeping the country seems to be here to stay. Not only are the teenagers who have come back from their graves still here, but newlydeads are being unearthed all the time. While scientists look for answers and politicians take their stands, the undead population of Oakville have banded together in a group they’re calling the Sons of Romero, hoping to find solidarity in segregation.
Phoebe Kendall may be alive, but she feels just as lost and alone as her dead friends. Just when she reconciled herself to having feelings for a zombie — her Homecoming date Tommy Williams — her friend Adam is murdered taking a bullet that was meant for her. Things get even more confusing when Adam comes back from the grave. Now she has romantic interest in two dead boys; one who saved her life, and one she can't seem to live without.

Fever News

Karen Marie Moning
I grabbed this from her Facebook page after a friend emailed the link to me....

Am I writing a 6th FEVER book?
by Karen Marie Moning on Friday, August 26, 2011 at 8:15am

Because I keep getting this question, I’ve realized I've obviously not answered it to your satisfaction:) I'm going to post here and ask that you all help me in spreading the word around.

I'm currently working on a trilogy that features Dani, Christian MacKeltar, Ryodan, and the mysterious 'Dancer,' set primarily in Fever-Dublin. Each installment in the trilogy is a stand-alone mystery, however there are larger plot arcs unfolding in the background. Where Mac was introspective and her story could feel somewhat esoteric, Dani is down and dirty in the streets. Lots of details, lots of action. There’s a different feel to the two series, totally different vantage points. I’m having a blast writing it.

For those of you who have been worrying—the trilogy is not YA. If I had to categorize it, I would say it straddles the line between YA and adult uneasily. I don’t pull any punches. It may be controversial in some ways. But whose teen years weren’t? LOL! Many of the questions I left unanswered in the FEVER series are addressed in this new series.

Exciting news: I’ve agreed to write two more books after that. Once the new trilogy is complete, I’m returning to the core story begun in the FEVER series, and will resume writing about Mac, Barrons, V’lane, Cruce, the Unseelie king, the concubine, the Song of Making.

All in all, there are five more books coming about the Fever World!

Because I know you guys, I know this is going to make some of you as nervous as it makes you excited. Trust me. I’m making no compromises with the characters or the story. It’s all unfolding exactly as it should, true to itself-which means, it’s a sometimes rocky road. Dark times ahead, guys. But I write it all with genuine love for the characters, the world, and you the reader.

As a final note, quit scaring Dreamworks with your demands for NC-17, LMAO. I don’t write NC-17. You have NC-17 imaginations! Sometimes I think you guys should be telling me stories!

HOLY FREAKING COW!!! I can't wait!!

Follow Friday

Follow Friday is a weekly event hosted by Parajunkee.com & Alison Can Read.

This week's featured Blogger is: Caught in the Pages

Q. In books like the Sookie Stackhouse (True Blood) series the paranormal creature in question "comes out of the closet" and makes itself known to the world. Which mythical creature do you wish would come out of the closet, for real?

A: Some days I'd say vamps others I'd say shifters/weres. Today I'm thinking about JZB so I'm going to answer shifters cause that's the closet thing to him. Now that I think about it "Death by sex" fae wouldn't be too bad either. Hmm....

REVIEW: Undead and Undermined by MaryJanice Davidson

Undead and Undermined (Undead #10)
by MaryJanice Davidson
Publisher: Berkley Hardcover; 1 edition (July 5, 2011)
BUY: Amazon / B&N / Book Depo
My Copy: Library Audio Book
RATING:
So this is what being dead feels like. Vampire queen Betsy Taylor has awoken in a Chicago morgue, naked as a corpse. Her last memory is reconciling with her husband, Eric Sinclair, after a time-traveling field trip, including an indirect route to hell (literally), with her sister, Laura. Now she’s Jane Doe #291, wrapped in plastic with a toe tag. Betsy can’t help but wonder, what in hell happened?

Grabbing clean scrubs, Betsy hits the pavement and heads back to her St. Paul mansion to find that her family and friends have been frantically searching for her. And not one of them can explain how she ended up dead and naked in Chicago until Betsy realizes that she and Laura didn’t time-travel alone.

REVIEW:
I am so done with this series. You would think after 10 books Betsy’s character would have grown. WRONG. She is still the same dumb, shallow blonde stereo type; which was fun for the first few books but it’s gotten old and on my nerves.

Undead and Undermined picks up where Undead and Unfinished left off. Betsy is trying to come to grip with the new time she returned to; after timing traveling with her sister Laura. Against advance, Betsy changed a few times in the past before coming back to the present and now she can see the error of her ways but as usual it’s too late.

Betsy is not the typical heroine. Most of the time she is the reason the day has to be saved.
I vote that Betsy stakes herself and puts everyone around her out of their misery.

If you are fan of the Undead series then by all means read this book; you might enjoy it. But I believe this series has lost it’s fun and needs to end.

Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy MaryJancie Davidson’s writing I just think Betsy is over. Let’s move on to some new characters. Which is why I’m giving up on Betsy and trying some of Davidson’s other books.

REVIEW: Shade by Jeri Smith-Ready

Shade (Shade, #1)
Shade (Shade #1)
by Jeri Smith-Ready
Published May 4th 2010 by Simon Pulse
Genre: YA, Urban Fantasy
BUY: Amazon / B&N / BAM / Book Depository
RATING:

Love ties them together. Death can't tear them apart.

Best. Birthday. Ever. At least, it was supposed to be. With Logan's band playing a critical gig and Aura's plans for an intimate after-party, Aura knows it will be the most memorable night of her boyfriend's life. She never thought it would be his last.

Logan's sudden death leaves Aura devastated. He's gone.

Well, sort of.

Like everyone born after the Shift, Aura can see and hear ghosts. This mysterious ability has always been annoying, and Aura had wanted nothing more than to figure out why the Shift happened so she can undo it. But not with Logan's violet-hued spirit still hanging around. Because dead Logan is almost as real as ever. Almost.

It doesn't help that Aura's new friend Zachary is so understanding—and so very alive. His support means more to Aura than she cares to admit.

As Aura's relationships with the dead and the living grow ever complicated, so do her feelings for Logan and Zachary. Each holds a piece of Aura's heart...and clues to the secret of the Shift.

REVIEW:

One word for Shade; AMAZING. I have found another favorite author in Ms. Jeri Smith-Ready.

Shade is my first ghost story and I love the concept behind it. All the people (sixteen and under) that was born after a date and time are called Post-Shifters and they can see and talk to ghosts. Although most of the time they do not want to.

Aura loses her boyfriend Logan, when he makes a stupid decision that takes his life. Now he is haunting her and they can’t let each other go. That’s when a sexy Scottish student named Zach enters the picture and a love triangle begins.

But Zach has a few secrets.

Throughout Shade, Aura and Logan has a tug of war with their love for each other and wither or not to “break-up”. But how to do you break-up with your ghost boyfriend without making him turn Shade? (Shades are bad ghosts.)

Shade was dark at times; I’ve not wanted to cry so much reading a book in a while. I found myself feeling Aura’s heart break.

I would recommend this book to anyone that loves YA Urban Fantasy with a great love triangle and mystery.

I cannot wait to pick up Shift, the second book in the series!
